A few hours after resigning as Chief Minister on Monday, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has announced exit of the party. He is also Member of the Legislative Assembly (Assemblyman) Kijal now stand as independents. "Please property tax be informed that I hereby resign from my post in the party with immediate effect. I also declare exit from Umno and become property tax independent MPs Kijal constituency," he said in the letter.

He was replaced by Seberang Takir assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad Razif in a swearing-in ceremony.
