Solar cell: Researchers reach 44.7% efficiency | The Energy to advance
A group of researchers and Franco-German industrialists announced on September 23, having surpassed the record output of a solar panel reaching an efficiency of over 44% through a multi-junction solar cell.
The average efficiency of solar cells in use is approximately 20%. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, industrial Hexagonal Soitec, CEA Leti Laboratory and Berlin Helmholtz Centre has reached double that level of performance. After three years of research, they have indeed managed to achieve 44.7% efficiency in converting we bought a zoo sunlight into energy.
This record was set by a new solar structure 4 seals, a technology from the spatial we bought a zoo domain and Soites develops its solar concentrator technologies.
"This world record by increasing our efficiency level of more than 1 point in less than four months demonstrates the great potential we bought a zoo of the four-junction solar cell, we designed building on the techniques of collage," said André-Jacques Auberton-Herve, president of Soitec. Tweet
