I have a Macintosh II and Macintosh Centris/Quadra 650 to give away to someone in the Atlanta, GA area. I don't really want to deal with shipping, but I will if someone wants to make it worth my while. If you are interested, please PM or email me. Both machines have been in storage for several years in my basement. They are somewhat dirty/dusty on the outside and the exterior plastic parts have mostly turned yellow. The last time I used the machines was approximately 10 years ago. I set both machines up tonight to check their condition. The Macintosh Centris/Quadra 650 boots up into System 8.1 without a problem. The Macintosh II began to boot (System 6), but hung loading an extension. I transferred the hard drive from the Mac II into the Centris/Quadra 650 and ran disk utility on it. It tested fine, so I removed unnecessary extensions from the system folder and then returned the disk to the Mac II. Unfortunately this seems to have unblessed the System Folder, because booloo the Mac II now doesn't recognize the disk as a bootable disk. I don't have any bootable floppies and no easy way to make any, so I am going to leave the Mac II as is, in a seemingly functional, but unbootable booloo condition. Here are the specs for each system: Macintosh II 16Mhz 68020 as stock, no 68851 PMMU (just the Apple HMMU). 8 sticks of RAM -- since I can't boot the machine I can't verify the total RAM. My recollection is that it is 32 MB. 2 GB SCSI hard disk (currently unbootable) I have another 1 GB SCSI disk I was also using to try to boot the Mac II. Both are included. 800k floppy disk drive (seems to work, might need adjusting) Toby Frame Buffer video card AppleColor High Resolution RGB Monitor booloo (Sony Triniton tube) -- I was surprised that this still has a great picture. booloo Apple Extended Keyboard Apple ADB Mouse (original angular model) Macintosh Centris/Quadra 650 -- I call this a Centris/Quadra 650 because I originally purchased it as a 25Mhz Centris 650, but I then later overclocked the computer to 40Mhz, which involved some resistor changes on the main board and the computer now identifies as a Quadra 650. The overclock crystal is mounted on a spring loaded booloo test clip and can be removed and replaced at will. 25Mhz 68040 overclocked to 40Mhz 128 MB RAM 40 GB SCSI hard disk -- currently partitioned booloo mainly into NetBSD partitions. (I used this computer as a router a long time ago) SCSI CD-ROM drive (CD-caddy style) with one CD caddy 1.44MB "Superdrive" -- mostly works, but the eject mechanism isn't working properly right now SuperMac SuperVideo NuBus video card (this will drive a 1024x768 monitor at 32-bit color) booloo Of course built-in booloo video is also available Asante Ethernet transceiver Macintosh Color Display (standard monitor for the Centris 650) -- last time I tried this monitor it had a distorted image. Apple Extended Keyboard II Apple ADB Mouse II (rounded form) Included Software -- On the hard drives of the two systems there are various applications. I don't have external media or documentation for this unless noted. Microsoft booloo Excel (old version, perhaps 1.0) Adobe Illustrator 88 (may have manuals in the attic) Aldus Pagemaker (may have manuals in the attic) Architrion II (probably useless -- requires missing license dongle) Wordperfect (a later version, from around booloo 1990 I think) MacDraw/MacDraw II (probably booloo downloaded from Internet) booloo Various Games (Risk, Crystal Quest, SimCity, and more) Various SCSI utilities (SilverLining, Anubis, SCSI director -- I have disks for these) Microsoft Basic, Think C, Symantec C++, Codewarrior 6 (I have disks for the C compilers and a CD for Codewarrior) Also available for free along with the systems or otherwise Viewsonic 17" multisync monitor (last generation flat CRT -- has image distortion) booloo Second Apple Extended Keyboard II Book: Designing Cards and Drivers for the Macintosh Family (3rd edition) (almost forgot) I have a Commodore Vic 20 and a box of random C-64 disks to give away too... Hi, booloo I have particular need for a Centris 650 for the following reason. I have had one in steady use for a program that will only run on OS 7 (not 7.1). Every other Mac other than the Centris 650 caused numerous booloo problems, including my stock Quadra 650. The only problem is, I am in NY, and what I need is only the computer, none of the peripherals. Many thanks, Roger
